Recently, Jesus revealed Himself
to me in a wonderful way. I had been talking
with a friend about how much the Holy Spirit
wanted to reveal Jesus to us. Suddenly we became
keenly aware of His Presence. I said, “Jesus is
here!” and we were suddenly overwhelmed with
desire to know Him better. I was then impressed
to ask the Lord to tell us something about
Himself. What He told me I will never forget.
Jesus said, “Your sin does not grieve Me nearly
as much as your inability to run into My arms
when you sin. I have made your sin to become
wings that can carry you into the arms of My
love. There I can wash you, there I can cherish
you, and there your love can grow, for My love
and intimacy will sanctify you.”
Sin isn’t just something we do;
sin is who we are. Alas, is there hope for
mankind? Yes, there is hope for us. Jesus Christ
was made sin for us that we might be made the
righteousness of God in Him. Sin can no longer
create a separation between God and the one who
has been reborn and made the very righteousness
of God through Jesus’ sacrifice. But, we can
create a separation with our doubt and unbelief.
A separation that grieves the heart of our
loving Redeemer occurs when our sinful actions
manufacture a veil of shame hindering us from
being washed by His precious blood. We must no
longer be shocked by our sin-nature if we are to
partake of His divine nature. We must settle
forever in our hearts and minds our wretched
state apart from His glorious salvation if we
are to ever become a sanctified people.
A chorus to a song states,
“…amazing pity, grace unknown and love beyond
degree.” This is the love of God toward us; this
is His gospel, and good news it is indeed! This
good news is not an excuse to sin, but the
doorway into a salvation so powerful and perfect
that our sin can no longer keep us from the
loving arms of our incredible God. It is the
fire of this love affair that burns up the lusts
of the enemy and the hidden sins of our heart.
This reality will absolutely transform us
forever. This love alone can set us apart,
producing a sanctification that reveals Jesus to
the world around us.
He has made our grievous sin to
actually become wings that can carry us into His
loving arms. If we will dare to believe Him and
fly to Him in our time of need, “amazing pity,
grace unknown, and love beyond degree” awaits us
